One thing that's NOT an option

One thing that's NOT an option

Looking to external things for confidence is not an option.

This has always been the case, but with everything going on, it's become abundantly clear.

Disagree? So did I.

I used to think that making money, getting the promotion, having my boss' recognition created my confidence.

Except, even when I did, I heard the itty bitty sh*tty committee in my brain loud and clear.

"Maybe you don't really deserve it."

"Maybe you didn't do it right, so it doesn't count."

"Maybe the other shoe will drop, so don't you dare relax and enjoy your success."

These lies are habit-forming...like crack.

And now that we're in this ongoing crisis -- even if you haven't taken a pay cut or been furloughed -- the voice of the itty bitty sh*tty committee can be louder than before.

Leaving you feeling insecure, anxious, afraid. Second guessing your every move. Beating yourself up...purely out of habit. Until you find yourself in a rut.

If external things create your confidence, how do you move past the rut?

It doesn't have to be hopeless. Nor out of your control.

The answer is right between your two ears.

What you choose to believe about you, your value and your potential is 100% your choice.

What would you choose to think if you were your own best ally?

What if you chose to adore you for who are you -- with no ifs, no buts, no sorries?

You'd become confident in your decisions. Comfortable in your own skin. Resourceful in situations.

Looking to external things for confidence is not an option, because the world will never be in your control.

But looking inside you for self-confidence is always a great option.

Plus it makes you look good.

P.S. Here's what my client Tania says:

"I initially sought out coaching because I received feedback that I lack executive presence. Through working with Jamie, I realized I had never lost my capacity to work with executives, get their buy-in, and lead projects to completion -- everything I associated with executive presence. As a result, I was able to confidently express my potential at job interviews and receive positive feedback."

Self-confidence will shape your executive presence. It will set you apart from the competition and fuel you to up-level your career trajectory. It will be the foundation of your growth strategy.
