Celebrating Making Less Money in 2024
'Tis the season for this sort of thing.
A look back at 2024: a tumultuous, terrible-yet-terrific year
65 incredibly good-looking and savvy individuals trusted me for one-on-one coaching.
70 free hour-long consultations booked and delivered — You can book yours for 2025 HERE.
40 executive coaching clients benefited from high-touch, bespoke guidance from yours truly.
25 integrative hypnosis sessions conducted with cheeky playfulness and mind-expanding curiosity.
1,300+ participants reached through 18 workshops and webinars this year (I can't believe it myself. A voice in my head says, "Damn, girl, you a hustler!" )
12 organizations invited me to speak. Personal highlights include Smith College Executive Education program (When I was last on campus, I’d look longingly in the direction of their building, hoping my wish would manifest into a speaking engagement, and lo and behold, it did.), Citi, Parlay House, Project 1490 (Hello, badasses!), Brookhaven Labs, and the Global Network of Women Peace Builders (Thank you for having me back).
76 total emails drafted, spell-checked, double-checked, and sent this year — THANK YOU for opening and reading. There's now more than a thousand of you.
33 podcast episodes published, featuring insightful conversations with entrepreneurial, thought-provoking women like:
Angela Saini (10,000 years of patriarchy debunked),
Carla Varriale (how she went "thermonuclear" while negotiating pay as a lawyer),
Rachael Eckles (we have fun channeling an uber-sexy, rich femme fatale),
Joyce Kao and Heidi Seibold (on betting on yourself, your business partner, and on your "brain child")
As well as replays of popular webinars like The Art of Negotiating Salary and Brain Magic
And vulnerable, personal reflections on the Summer I was Homeless and my Post-Election Love Letter to Women, Immigrants, and People of Color
Like many of my clients, I’m also mid-reinvention.
This year, I certified in hypnosis and implemented more and more of the paradigm-shifting tools in my practice.
To see my clients benefit from these tools and create transformations in their lives and careers is pure joyous magic and the cause for real celebration.
Clients made changes in all sorts of ways, like:
Stop nail biting
Resume prioritizing self-care and get back to the gym in the morning
Follow through on their decision to complete another round of IVF
Write and submit an independent consulting proposal with an ask for $200K pay
Stop believing that a family member’s celiac disease diagnosis means that she shouldn’t go for the promotion she’d been wanting for years (and she got promoted!)
Sell a home, secure a $50K profit, and pivot into an entirely new career after divorce
Launch a coaching practice and earn her first five figures as a solopreneur
Negotiate a job offer, secure a VP position, and guide the company away from going out of business
Step into metaphorical fires to take brave, unpopular, heroic actions
Have their very first conversation about compensation and receive support and endorsement in return
And honestly… so much more.
Personally though...
In the midst of it all, I was also navigating my own growth and challenges. Here are a few highlights:
Struggled with early-onset perimenopause symptoms, including an unexpected ER visit.
Started taking magnesium glycinate at night (a game-changer!).
Took kizomba dance classes and danced tango in the park.
Shifted from veganism back to being an omnivore (my gut is so much happier).
Committed to almost-daily weightlifting sessions with 10-minute Apple Fitness+ videos (I'm biased -- Kim Ngo is my favorite).
Experienced moments of depression — not because my life isn’t an astoundingly generous gift, but because I’m human and a sensitive soul who feels things deeply.
Traveled to Phoenix, Las Vegas, Singapore, and soon — Tokyo!
This year, I grappled with this question:
What’s most satisfying for the soul?
It wasn’t in chasing after more money or surface-level wins.
So I implemented sliding scale rates whenever a great-fit client asked.
I offered some steep discounts, ignoring the advice of millionaire business mentors and conventional wisdom.
But you know what? The surprising result is that my sense of connectedness, a kind of groundedness grew.
As did my actual savings.
Because I became more discerning and selective about where and how I invest my money, energy, and focus.
I bet you did, too.
With that said, if you want to start 2025 with a smart, savvy, and no-longer-so-exorbitant investment in yourself, so that can have inner congruence first and let the outer achievements follow...
If you want to make the kind of deeply satisfying changes in the new year that my clients routinely create...
You're invited to book your free hour-long consultation with me in January 2025.
(Feel free to share this with your friends, too!)

P.S. A gentle reminder
Dear friends — You are not a failure for making less money (or having a lower performance rating) this year than last.
It’s not a reflection of your moral character. You are infinitely so much more than a number on a screen.
Also — you are not a failure for having gotten laid off.
You succeeded in graduating from a place you were done with long time ago.
And you are not a failure if you’ve found out your new job is not a fit.
Because let’s face it: If anyone tells you there’s 100% certainty into the future, they’re lying.
You are not a failure for getting stuck between the lie of linear growth and the trap of perfectionism.
It is not your fault for existing in a society that feeds us these myths.
You are not a failure.
You are something entirely different. As rich with possibility and as mysterious as the hundreds of thousands of miles of neuronal connections as vast as the galaxy in your brain.
